Join us for the "Connecting The Community" open house, to be held at the AFB Center on Vision Loss on Thursday, September 26 from 11 AM to 3 PM. You'll have an opportunity for hands-on demonstrations of  products and services  from HIMS, INC. and Serotek Corporation, and you'll also have a chance to learn about the North Texas Radio For The Blind Reading Service. Here's your chance to see top-notch Braille displays, notetakers, portable magnifiers and digital book players from HIMS. Learn how these products can work alongside Serotek's award-winning System Access screen reader, DocuScan Plus for Windows and Mac, and the SAMNet service including the Socializer for seamless social networking.
 
Who should attend? The "Connecting The Community" open house is perfect for everyone with an interest in learning more about products to enhance the lives of blind and low vision users. In recognition of September being "National Preparedness Month", the American Foundation for the Blind Center on Vision Loss invites you to join us on September 11, 2013, from 1:00pm until 2:30pm for an Emergency Preparedness Seminar presented by Dallas County HHS-PHP!
 
Learn how to create an Emergency Plan for you and your family, receive tips on what to include in an  Emergency Supply Kit, and learn about emergency planning considerations specific to individuals with vision loss.
 
Hear the real-life stories of your peers who have dealt with emergency situations, and how they managed evacuations, and post-disaster recovery .
