Caregiver Teleconnection:

Telephone Education for Family Caregivers

Family caregivers of older adults, people of any age with disabilities, and professionals are invited to participate in a toll free telephone education program on Monday, March 18 at either 12:00 noon or 7:00 p.m.

The topic for this 45 minute session is If I Had Only Known:  A Conversation with Experienced Family Caregivers. Linda Hines and Pat Sneller will talk about what works and some of the challenges of family caregiving. Join the conversation as a caregiver for her mother and a caregiver for her husband talk about what they recommend that other caregivers do.  Zanda Hilger, LPC, will lead a question and answer session with participants and discuss resources.

This caregiver education program, open to anyone, is provided by the Area Agency on Aging of North Central Texas and the North Central Texas Aging & Disability Resource Center.

To register online, go to and choose one of the two sessions scheduled.  You may also register by calling toll free 1-866-390-6491 from 8:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Mark your calendars for the 45 minute April sessions.  On April 18 at 12:00 noon or 7:00 p.m. will be a discussion about Alzheimer's Disease and Dementia:  Do You Have a Care Plan? These sessions will bepresented by Sara Rotenberry and Shelly Young of the Alzheimer's Association.

At 12:00 noon on April 30 pharmacist Mike Varnell will present What About All Those Medications? A Family Caregivers Guide.
