Research opportunity for women who do not have children

Volunteers Needed

Women, Age 65 to 80

who do not have children

and are willing to share their

experiences and views on later life

We are currently seeking volunteers to participate in a research project about lifestyles of childless older women. Many people wrongly assume that most women have children. However, we know that as many as 20% of adult women do not, either by choice or by circumstances.

We are interested in talking with women age 65 to 80 who have never had children or who have lost an only child to learn more about what they see as some of the joys and challenges of later life. Participation would involve three interviews in a place of the volunteer’s choosing, such as at her home, a restaurant, a senior center, a library – whatever is most convenient for the volunteer. All information will be kept confidential. This project is being sponsored by the National Institute of Aging. Participants will be eligible to receive an honorarium for completing the interviews.
